Getting there

TRAVEL

Borgo della Meliana · Gambassi Terme, Tuscany

Getting to a wedding in the Tuscan countryside takes a little more planning than getting to one at home, so we’ve pulled together the simplest options for reaching Borgo della Meliana.

For most guests, our recommendation is to fly into Pisa and hire a car. It gives you the easiest journey to the Borgo and the most flexibility if you’re adding a few extra days in Italy before or after the wedding.

If you’d rather not drive, don’t worry — there are other options below.

Flights for June 2028 aren’t on sale yet. There’s nothing you need to book just yet — we’ll update this page once schedules are available.

Flying to Tuscany

AIRPORTS

Florence

A good alternative

Florence Airport

Florence is a good alternative if the flight times, route or price work better for you.

It’s a little further from the Borgo than Pisa, but still a sensible option — particularly if you’re planning to spend some time in Florence before or after the wedding.

Hiring a car

The easiest way to get around.

If you’re comfortable driving in Italy, hiring a car is the option we’d recommend. The Borgo is in the Tuscan countryside, so having your own transport makes the journey much simpler and gives you the freedom to explore during the rest of your trip.

There’s parking at the Borgo, and once you arrive you can leave the car there throughout the celebrations — you won’t need to drive between any of our wedding events.

If you’re travelling with friends or family, sharing a hire car could also make things easier and keep the cost down.

Our simplest route

Not planning to drive?

Shared transport will be an option.

We completely understand that not everyone will want to hire a car or drive in Italy.

For guests who need it, we’ll coordinate shared transport to and from the Borgo. Because taxi availability around the venue is limited, these will need to be grouped around similar arrival and departure times rather than arranged as individual transfers.

We’ll share more details once flights for June 2028 are available and we know who will need transport.

If you’re planning not to drive, please check with us before booking your flights so we can help you choose an arrival time that works with the shared transport.

Taxis & local transport

Taxis are very limited.

Borgo della Meliana is in the countryside and local taxis are limited, so we wouldn’t recommend relying on finding one when you arrive.

The simplest options are:

  • Hire a car
  • Share a car with other guests
  • Use one of the shared transfers we coordinate

Sunday 4th June

Arriving at the Borgo

The celebrations begin on Sunday evening with our welcome pizza party, so please plan your journey with enough time to reach the Borgo, get settled and relax beforehand.

We’ll send everyone their check-in and arrival information closer to June 2028.

Wednesday 7th June

Leaving the Borgo

Check-out is by 10am on Wednesday 7th June. If you’re flying that day, make sure you leave enough time to travel to the airport, return any hire car and get through the airport without rushing.

If you’re using shared transport, we’ll coordinate departure journeys around guests with similar flight times.

Or stay in Italy a little longer…
